Kia ora

The eagerly anticipated WABC Programme will be released soon and we apologize for the delay. We are currently addressing the on-line registration process which should be available within the fortnight.

At this time we are pleased to announce the following additions to the WABC Programme:

Swim For Life® Challenge
Swim For Life® is the most significant learn to swim and survive initiative in over 50 years in New Zealand. It is not an event or a programme, but a marketing initiative aimed at ensuring young New Zealanders learn and develop swim and survival skills.

The purpose of Swim For Life®:

Every New Zealand child by the age of 12 will be able to swim 200m confidently and competently with associated survival skills and understand the key water safety messages

The objective of Swim For Life® is to raise awareness of learning to swim and survive. This objective recognises that the ability to swim and survive impacts upon all aquatic activity and is therefore fundamental in increasing water confidence levels in, on and under the water, and the prevention of drownings.

WABC delegates will have a unique opportunity to participate in a Swim For Life® event to raise awareness of learning to swim and survive.

For more information on Swim For Life® please see www.swimforlife.org.nz

WABC Education Courses
The WABC Committee is currently working with a number of international organisations to provide delegates with an opportunity to complete an 8-hour Infant & Preschool Education Course the day before the WABC Conference.

Courses to be offered include the AUSTSWIM Infant and Preschool Aquatics (one day modified), NSSA Infant and Preschool and Swedish version also.

The registration fee for these WABC Education Courses will be NZ$ 200.00 (Early) and NZ$ 250.00 (Late). This fee includes the presenter fee, venue hire, transport (within Wellington), morning and afternoon tea, lunch, a certificate of completion and NZ goods & services tax (12.5%). Each course has a maximum 12 places available so be sure to register early.

The WABC Committee would like to thank the Wellington City Council for their support and contribution to the WABC Education Courses and the WABC Conference.

Kia Kaha Partnership
The WABC Committee in partnership with Kia Kaha Clothing is pleased to announce that all full WABC delegates will receive in their conference pack a distinctive WABC (Kia Kaha designed) polo shirt.

Kia Kaha Clothing specializes in providing high quality apparel with authentic and distinctive Maori designs. Kia Kaha translated means “Be strong and fearless!” “Stand tall!” or “Be Proud!” The expression is used in many situations to give encouragement and support to family, friends and team-mates. Wear them with pride and courage!
